Can West African unity be achieved?
Some countries in ECOWAS are campaigning for unity within the block through a single currency and open borders. But in my point of view, it's going to be difficult to achieve seeing the lack of co_operation withing the block regarding some heartbreaking issues in hand that I will like to share with you.
For over a decade now Nigeria has been battling a terror group called Boko Haram that is costing the state millions of dollars and only a handful of states are helping combat it. This shows there can no be unity if all the states can't help out.
Coming back home, Ghana economy has been crippled by the collapsing of some banks that is creating a further high rate of unemployment and how many countries within this block really care about helping the country tackling this challenge? And if they care what is their plan to curb this appalling situation the banks are facing ? None of them care.
Democracy is prevailing almost in every single state of the region except in my small country Togo which upon all the demonstration going on almost every day for about a year now the government is yet to give in to what they people are demanding. If they want unity within the block why can't they help topple Gnassingbé dynasty?
What's your take on this issue?

Unity in West Africa
When are we truly going to unite in W/A as one people?
For this unit to be achieved
We need to first of all have
Heads of states that will have one mindset Responsible governments that must work for their people
Literate police, military police and army of any kind that will listen to the people not to the government and its entourage
And also,
Being people that will be disciplined
Being responsible not to seek our government downfall illegally
Being tolerant by banning religious conflits
Being polite towards our neighbors
Moreover,
We need to have a single currency as championed by J. Mahama during his era and Nana Addo currently
Open borders as the latter wish it
Ports being free of charge
And quality health care
Having all this can really lead to unity of West Africa ?

My Africa, my hope
It's my dream to see Africa depending on its own one day
It's my dream to see a sovereign continent on its own some day
It's my dream to see a united continent one day
It's my dream to be led by a visionary leader of United States of Africa some day
A continent that :
Will be able to defend its own interests
Will be capable of managing its own resources
Will be able to manage its own affairs
Will be capable of governing on its own
A continent where its:
Leaders will not look up to any westerners in there's hardship
Citizens will stay on the continent and grow it
Banks will compete with oversee ones
Schools will be good enough to train their own people.

Is Africa Ripe for Democracy?

In the early 2011, some African States had been rocked my huge demonstrations that led to the change of some regimes just in the name of democracy which one can say was directly imposed on those states by the westerners through the so called peaceful demonstration.
This has led to the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi in Libya who was brutally murdered, Gbagbo being blown away by France, Mali and CAR among other states that saw their presidents being chased out of power.
From then up to now all these aforementioned states are being torn by war which the UN is struggling to cope with and we can see what some of these states have become today. Libya that was once a stable state, has become 21st century slaves hub and ISIS training camp
And Ghana that was once a country where people's security was guaranteed under J. J. Rawlings regime which we call dictatorial regime has now turned into a country where no one's security is guaranteed under a full democracy that prevails now.
Were we really better off in Africa before the advent of democracy ?
As Africans, do we truly need democracy before we can move forward in Africa? What is your take on this issue ?

behind the scene ( GH-USA military base)
For quite sometime now there's been a rumour circulating that our dearest nation Ghana was sold to the USA. After some weeks of uncertainty surrounding this issue, President Nana Addo has finally come out to address the nation over this issue that engulfed the state. And before then, opinions across the nation have been divided and you could hear from one accusing NDC or NPP for any kind of reasons.
To shorten the president speech, such agreement people are talking about is not the first to have taken place in the country's history. It ever happened in 1998 and 2000 before this recent one(2015). And now we know the president view over this issue
My problem about this issue is that did the earlier agreements 1998,2000 happen in the secret like this recent one? And after his speech on this issue everyone came to discover where the tru
Here is the question now , how can a government strike a deal with a foreign government without the approval of the parliament?
Do our leaders really care about us or they only care about the millions of dollars they will get from Western Powers and build castles outside and live in after they left power
I am not going to ask you which government to blame for such a blatant so called agreement but as a Ghanaian do you think it will be in the nation's interest to go ahead with such an agreement?

After AU What Next?
As more and more African States have achieved independence, their leaders have given considerable thought to Africa Unity. Among them we can cite Osagyefo Doctor Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana who's one of the then leaders to have championed in the 1960s this idea. The most important and dramatic change that has taken place in Africa or in Africa's position in the world has been the establishment of an Organization of African Unity in May 25,1963.
And since then, we have been seeing that our African leaders have been slow and they are all looking for their own interests or that of their people above the main goal of the bloc. And as you can notice the other day "the African Union has held an Extraordinary Summit on the African Continental Free Trade( CFTA), Kigali, Rwanda which aimed at creating a single continental market for goods and services ,with free movement of business persons and investments
However, the heavy weight Nigeria decided to walk away from this summit and did not sign for this treaty which is a total setback .
Lovely readers ,what is your take on Nigeria position? And how efficient have you seen AU actions up to date? Are they really meeting the AU goals as K. Nkrumah wanted it or by far Muammar Gaddafi?
Eagerly waiting for your views.
